Aliens, are we not?

Sometimes, more often than you think, i wish i spoke your language. I wish one day, i would at least gain the ability to decipher every graceful turn your fingers make when they dance. Maybe then we’d have more to talk about over a glass of stupid beer. Or whatever drinks they fancy in that planet of yours.

I’m sorry. It’s just one of those times.
Been swimming in a glass half empty for too long, i guess.

Oh brother!

Here i am sitting alone one of the busiest Starbucks you'll find in Jakarta. Pissed off and feeling bitchy after having two important appointments canceled, one at very very short notice. Matter of fact, the appointment was supposed to take place exactly where i am right now. It's a hot afternoon, the place is packed and noisy. And it definitely isn't my lucky day. So in effort to cheer myself up, i went through pictures from my last visit to the Philippines--the two best weeks of 2009, i must say. The two carefree weeks of great laughs and amazing friends.... and this picture just MADE my day!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA. Seriously. A typical david-christabelle moment always saves the day!

on-the-go

Different things, for different emergency needs. A girl will always be a girl, i guess, regardless her ugly nails and her limited knowledge in the field of make-ups. Yes, i have them with me every day in the car.

I'll at least try

I want to brighten up your day, if it isn't obvious enough. And i don't plan on failing you now. Tell me how, tell me how.

how to please the world? and by 'world' i mean everyone. yourself included. mind to share tips? anyone?

Love Letters of Great Men -- i want one!

Remember Love Letters of Great Men, the book mentioned in one of the scenes from Sex and The City (the movie) ? Well it was apparently fictional and only really came out after the movie. And so having seen the book at the self-help section of a bookstore over a month ago (seriously, why?), I took the time to google it earlier today and was fortunate enough to find the letter Mr. Big quoted in the movie. Yes, the one with the oh-so-famous "ever thine, ever mine, ever ours" line. Beauty lovers today are greatly missing.

(An interesting fact, typing 'love letters of great men' as keywords on google lead me to this -- wait for it... -- www.romanceclass.com website. Not bad, i know. But much to my embarassment of googling it in a public place, it uses the tagline "Learn to love -- online!". For goodness sake, why is everyone making it seem like these love letters are meant for the love-challenged? First the self-help section. Now an online romance class? Give me a break. I love these letters and i am confident of being waaaay off the list of love-challenged people.)

Ah forgive the nonsense.
Here goes a love letter written by Beethoven.

Good morning, on July 7

Though still in bed, my thoughts go out to you, my Immortal Beloved, now and then joyfully, then sadly, waiting to learn whether or not fate will hear us - I can live only wholly with you or not at all - Yes, I am resolved to wander so long away from you until I can fly to your arms and say that I am really at home with you, and can send my soul enwrapped in you into the land of spirits - Yes, unhappily it must be so - You will be the more contained since you know my fidelity to you. No one else can ever possess my heart - never - never - Oh God, why must one be parted from one whom one so loves. And yet my life in V is now a wretched life - Your love makes me at once the happiest and the unhappiest of men - At my age I need a steady, quiet life - can that be so in our connection? My angel, I have just been told that the mailcoach goes every day - therefore I must close at once so that you may receive the letter at once - Be calm, only by a calm consideration of our existence can we achieve our purpose to live together - Be calm - love me - today - yesterday - what tearful longings for you - you - you - my life - my all - farewell. Oh continue to love me - never misjudge the most faithful heart of your beloved.

ever thine,
ever mine,
ever ours.

Ah, does your heart not melt through each and every word, or am i really just that cheesy? And why in the world won't people take the time to write so passionately beautiful anymore? Don't be making up excuses now 'cause Beethoven wasn't even a writer. His music did not even have lyrics, i may add. So it obviously does not take one to be able to write them. (Hey, how amusing would it be if he wrote lyrics, though?) And by the way, thank God they did not have Blackberries back in the days. At least now we know (and hopefully take lessons from) the extent of well-said verbal sweets humans are really, originally capable of... and just how much technology has turned us into lazy thinkers. Hehehe. I doubt those love letters would be the same (or even exist) had they Blackberry Messengers then.

Dude, screw Blackberries. I believe more love is sent through snail mail and what ever is slower. E-mails, at the very least. Yes, just personal, sweet, and well thought of. It says so much more than those pointless insecure 24/7 live reports on your minute-by-minute activities. Trust me, it is.

Oh boy, cheesy me wants a romantic love letter. Now.

I'm a handful but the heart always has ample space

silly faces from Makassar, yesterday

Work to do, places to go, final project to work on, stressful deadlines to meet, blank pages to fill, careless procrastinations to get rid of, the weather to excuse my cuss words, distances to loath, people to please, people to love...

So much to do, so much to be grateful for.
